October 2017 Photo Walk Event:
Kuerbisfest Am Himmel

Hello photo walkers!

It may be a cliché, but, hey – it’s a beautiful one: October is the month of gorgeous, delicious orange pumpkins! More that anything this VPWer right here is craving capturing them in all their golden glory this year.

Having set up a sort of emergency where-are-the-best-and-most-photogenic-pumpkins hotline, I was blessed with answer from one of our dedicated walkers: Kürbisfest Am Himmel 2017!

It’s a gorgeous hike but it’s still in Vienna, it’s accessible by public transport, we’ll be surrounded by nature, and apparently it’s all about the pumpkin: looking at them, buying them, carving them, eating them, and so on. After we’re done with all the pumpkin-shooting, we’ll grab a bite & a drink, and make our way down, back to Vienna – either on foot, or by bus.

If you’d like to join us, please claim your free ticket here; tickets are limited.

Date: Saturday, October 28th 2017

Topic: Pumpkins & Fall in Vienna (http://www.himmel.at/kuerbisfest/)

Language: English

Meeting time: 11:30am

Meeting place: Ubahn station “Heiligenstadt” (U4), by the bus stop of the bus number 38A (direction > Kahlenberg). The bus, according to the schedule, leaves at 12:56; we’ll grab it. If you’re late, you can find us up on the mountain; the stop to get off at is “Cobenzl Parkplatz”

Getting there: The Wiener Linien Route Planner is an excellent tool to help you plan your route, in real time. The same tool, called qando, may be downloaded for free and used as an app on any smartphone.

What to wear: comfortable shoes (sneakers, hiking; no heels). Also, in our experience this area tends to be very windy, so if it’s a chilly day and you tend to get cold, we suggest bringing a scarf and maybe even a hat/headband.

What to bring: charged camera, some cash (these places tend not to accept cards), ticket/pass for the bus

Photo Contest: YES! We will be running a contest for the best voted image from this walk. More information on this later.

TICKET CANCELLATION: If you successfully book a free ticket, but then realize that you cannot attend – please inform us as soon as possible by sending us an email to viennaphotowalk@gmail.com. There is always a waiting list for our events, and someone will be happy to have your ticket. Thank you!

EVENT CANCELLATION: Should it come to this (weather, organizers’ illness, etc.) the cancellation will be announced by 09:00am on the day of the event (28.10.2017) on Facebook (Group, Page & Event). If you miss a cancellation notice, we cannot be held responsible. Thank you for your understanding.
