The Donaukanal – Vienna’s Summer Stage
The Wiener Donaukanal, a quiet, peaceful spot favoured by joggers, dog walkers, graffiti and street artists, skaters, and cyclists throughout the year, becomes a vibrant place in the warm summer months – Vienna’s summer stage, and main promenade.
Home to numerous clubs and restaurants, as well as food trucks, bars, and pop up stalls (for a good long list check out this link), the canal hosts a number of large summer events, including the Donaukanaltreiben, and sporting events such as the annual Stand Up Paddling Tour am Wiener Donaukanal.
Photo Contest – the Results
The themes given to our participants this time around were connected, and yet quite varied – Donaukanal, street art, graffiti, street photography, Stand Up Paddling – and I’m pleased to say that the three winning shots reflect this diversity.
Here are the walk’s best photographs, as voted by the members of VPW in our anonymously-posted photo contest:
A big thank you to the members who joined us for the photo walk, those who entered our photo contest, and all the members of VPW who took the time to vote for their favourites!
Stay tuned for the in-depth interview with our winner, Colin Vickers, and see you at our next photo walk on June 18th, 2016!
