Prater is a large public park in Vienna’s 2nd district (Leopoldstadt). The Wurstelprater amusement park, often just called “Prater”, stands in one corner of the Wiener Prater and includes the magnificent Wiener Riesenrad (German for Vienna Giant Wheel). This was the spot that our Facebook Vienna Photo Walk group voted on going for our first photo walk of 2015. Lorna and I were delighted! This park is alive with color and has a lot of activity so we were quite happy to have our photo walk there.
However on September 12th, the day of our photo walk it was rather overcast and cold. Also the majority of the attractions didn’t open until 10:00 and we had arrived at 9:00! So at first I think we all were a little hesitant but after we started walking around we realized it worked out wonderfully! We didn’t have to fight crowds to get our shots, and it was as if the whole park was available at our disposal to be photographed. I dare say, we all had quite a good time!
If you’re interested in joining us on a future walk, please join our Facebook Group to get the heads up on all our events.
Can’t wait for the next photo walk with these friendly faces! If it was anything like this one, it’s going to be great!
